**Using the files located in the shared drive: Technical Services\Customer Files\Macys\Macys - ZT231 Staging Files**
Steps to Setup Zebra ZT231 Printers
NOTE: You’ll need to use Zebra Setup Utilities to complete the staging
With the printer powered off, connect the printer to the PC via USB.
Power on the printer to install it.
Open Zebra Setup Utilities and select the ZT231.
4. Select Open Printer Tools >> Settings and click the ellipses to Send file.
5. First send the approved firmware version:
SP97-006679A.zpl
6. Wait for the firmware update to complete. The printer will reboot and you can proceed to send the remaining files.
7. Send each file in this order:
1 - Delete_APL-M 1.ZPL
2 - Virtual-Dev-M-v1_21-006748A.NRD
3 - Enable & Reboot 1.txt
8. Go back to Zebra Setup Utilities and select Open Communication With Printer
9. Copy and paste the following command in the top window and add a carriage return to the end. (This is important for the command to work)
! U1 getvar "apl.enable"
10. Select Send To Printer
11. The bottom window should return "apl-m" to indicate that the update was successful.
12. If successful, the configuration is complete. If not, repeat from Step 7. If still unsuccessful, repeat from Step 4.
QA Steps
NOTE: You’ll need to use Zebra Setup Utilities to complete the QA
Connect the printer to the PC via USB and power the printer on if not already.
Open Zebra Setup Utilities and select the ZT231.
Select Open Communication With Printer
Copy and paste the following command in the top window and add a carriage. (Carriage return is important for the command to work)
^XA^HH^XZ
Select Send To Printer
The bottom window should return SP97-006679A as the firmware version.
Copy and paste the following command in the top window and add a carriage return. (Carriage return is important for the command to work)
! U1 getvar "apl.enable"
Select Send To Printer
The bottom window should return "apl-m" to indicate that the update was successful.
