10/23/24 - REX RMA Update section updated - BP
2/28/25 - TC58 SIM card instructions added - BP
Two deliveries are generally guaranteed everyday. One will be from UPS and the other will be from FedEX. The hours of delivery will usually be between 2-4pm. While both services will deliver at different times, both will bring there own amount of Office Depot assets from RMAs that were recently generated. When these packages are delivered, place the packages on the REX cart. Pay close attention to the names on the cart's shelves. Each shelf will be tied to a customer (If the goal is to complete the check-in process, continue to the "Labels and Boxes" section. If not, the process ends here until the next business day).
If checking in a Retail or Supply Chain Cradle device, skip to the "Checking-In Cradles" section
*** This process should be followed fully if the goal is to setup for the completion of the check-in process at a different time. If the goal is to complete the check-in process, only complete step 1 - 3 and skip to the "REX RMA Update" section. ***
Grab a Office Depot box.
Take the device out of the box.
Cut the label from the box.
Using a rubber band, wrap the label around the device.
Place the wrapped device in the " Office Depot Check-In" bin.
This bin is labeled "Office Depot Check-ins". It should only have Office Depot assets inside and should be dealt with daily. In the event that there's no time to work on the check-in bin, feel free to use the bin to hold devices until there's enough time (even if that bleeds into multiple days). While useful, it is not recommended to leave the check-in bin with too many devices. Make a plan to chip away at the total amount and/or ask for assistance if the total amount becomes overwhelming.
Grab a device from the check-in bin or from a box (make sure if pulling from a box, the label from the box is nearby)
Open the Office Depot REX portal.
While inside the REX portal, select the "RMAs" option (when logging into the portal for the first time, the "Dashboard" section is selected by default.
Use the magnifying glass on the top right hand corner to search the RMA number that is tied to the device (the RMA number can be found near the bottom left hand corner on the label from the box the device came from).
If an RMA number can't be identified on the label, STOP AND CONTACT YOUR MANAGER
Select the searched RMA (another UI will appear to the right side of the screen). ***Take the time to double check that the RMA number references the serial number of the defective device or vise-versa. IF THERE'S NOT A MATCH, STOP AND CONTACT YOUR MANAGER ***
Using the new UI, scroll down until "Boot Case Returned" can be seen.
*** At this point, grab your device and take off the boot (if one is on the device) and take out the battery (if inside the device) ***
Edit the following fields:
Boot Case Returned - was the boot returned?
Boot Case Usable - is the boot usable? *** If no, dispose of the boot ***
Boot Strap Returned - was the strap attached to the boot returned?
Boot Strap Usable - is the strap usable? *** If no, dispose of the strap ***
Battery Returned - was the battery returned?
Battery Usable - is the battery usable?
Supply Chain = Office Depot has opted to dispose of batteries that are older than 2 years. A label should be attached to the battery with the date of deployment. If the battery doesn't have a label on it, use this source to determine the life of the battery: https://supportcommunity.zebra.com/s/article/Battery-Date-Code-for-Zebra-Mobile-Computing-Products?language=en_US
Once the date is confirmed, if the battery life is within the 2 years, create a label for the battery. Use the "TRIAGED Battery Label Creation (Supply Chain)" in the OD maintenance page to assist with this.
If the battery life is not within the 2 years or if the battery cannot hold a charge, dispose of the battery. Use the "Bad Battery Disposal" guide located in the maintenance page.
Retail = Take the battery and put it in a charging dock. If the LED lights green, the battery is usable. If not, the battery is not usable and should be disposed. Use the "Bad Battery Disposal" guide located in the maintenance page.
Once all 6 fields are complete, select the "Repair" tab located in the UI.
Under the "Repair Status" field, select "RMA Evaluation" using the "v" option or type "RMA Evaluation" in the field. *** This field usually has "Pending Receipt" filled in by default. ***
Select the green "Save" button when complete.
Take the device's battery, boot and strap and place them in the bin labeled "Accessories - Retail" or "Accessories - Supply Chain"
Applies for only the TC58: Take the SIM Card out of the device (located behind the device; underneath the casing where the battery is placed on top of).
