Firmware Staging Process
First put the device in Fastboot Mode.
To enter fastboot mode with USB Cable:
Power down device (battery must be installed)
Hold down Home and Volume Down buttons, and press Power button to turn on
Device will boot to Fastboot Mode screen
To enter fastboot mode with USB Cradle:
Power down device (battery not necessary)
Hold Home / Volume Down and place device in cradle
Device will boot to Fastboot Mode screen
After entering Fastboot Mode connect the device to the Tech Lab PC via USB
Click on the Command Prompt shortcut on the taskbar or select start and type CMD > select Run As administrator
Type C:\Users\techlab\Desktop\Disney\DPI\Approved A11 Version 91.54_20231210 press ENTER
Type RunThis.bat press ENTER
Device will reboot with the new OS installed.
Zero-Touch Enrollment Process
After finishing the Firmware Staging Process the device must be enrolled in the ZeroTouch Portal.
Access the ZT Admin Chrome Profile through Chrome Browser on top right corner
To create, open Chrome > Select User Profile on top Right
Select + Add
Select Sign in
Enter Email: "zt.admin@sstid.com". Select Next
Enter password: "mdm4life". Select Next
Select Yes I’m in for Sync
A new Chrome Window will open. Select Zero-Touch Reseller bookmark
Select Devices on the left
Select + Add device on the right
Under Quick Upload
Select Disney - Parks and Resorts for Add devices to
Select Wi-Fi only
Select janam technologies for Manufacturer
Select xt3 for Model
Scan each serial number in the Serials numbers box
Select add and done.
Add Disney microSD card
Device is ready for REX Spare Pool
Device Staging Process
Pulling device from Spare Pool to use as replacement for RMA
Access the customer portal to assign configuration
In Zero-Touch Portal, under the Search for devices box click the link to visit the old portal
Select Disney – Parks and Resorts in the top left dropdown
Select devices
Enter serial numbers in search field
Select ‘Serial_Number’ in ‘Choose an identifier’ dropdown
Ensure devices is either WDW or DLR or Hawaii from RMA to select correct profile
Options are ‘WDW Jamam Staging - OS 11’ or ‘DLR Janam Device Staging - OS 11’
Assign replacement serial in RMA in REX
AirWatch Enrollment Steps:
Confirm spare device has Disney microSD card installed
Turn on the unit that has been pre-registered in Zero Touch. Click start on the “Hi There” screen.
Connect the unit to the open SST Guest Access network and the unit will check for updates once connected.
At the “Set up your device” screen, select ACCEPT & CONTINUE. The unit will begin setting up the work device.
When prompted with the “Google Services” selection screen, scroll to the bottom and press ACCEPT.
The device will begin AirWatch enrollment, and prompt for an Asset Number. (Note: Disney’s Asset Number syntax is “####”). Make sure the device is listed as “Corporate Shared” and enter or scan in the asset number and click NEXT.
NOTE: Each device has its own asset ID assigned and stays the same for the serial number.
When prompted, Click GO TO SETTINGS to allow Hub access to manage all files. Enable Allow access to manage all files and click Back arrow.
NOTE: While allowing access to files, a "Send app for security check?" popup may appear multiple times throughout the process. If this occurs, select "Don't send"
In the AirWatch Launcher, select the dropdown arrow in the top right corner of the screen and select the Admin icon. Enter the admin passcode (“4556”) and select “SUBMIT”. If the passcode does not work, select Settings icon and Reload the launcher before trying again.
Launch the “Rover 6” application, and select “ALLOW” to let the app run in the background.
On the Display over other apps menu, select "Rover 6: WDW" and Enable Allow display over other apps. Press Back twice.
Enable Allow access to manage all files and press back. Ignore any Rover errors. The "Rover 6: WDW" app will restart.
Exit the Rover application by pressing the physical HOME button on the front of the unit.
Select the dropdown arrow in the top right corner of the screen and press “Exit” to exit to the O/S UI. You may now start the manual steps below.
Manual OS Configuration Steps:
Navigate to Settings > Connected devices > Connection preferences > Printing.
Click Default Print Service
Disable: Default Print Service
Click BACK 4 times to return to main settings list.
Navigate to Apps & Notifications > Notifications
Click Bubbles
Disable: Allow apps to show bubbles
Click BACK once and scroll to the bottom of the menu.
Click Notifications on lock screen and select last option (Don’t show any notifications).
Click to Expand Advanced.
Disable: Suggested actions and replies
Disable: Notification dot on app icon
Disable: Blink Light
Click BACK twice to return to main settings list.
Navigate to Display
Enable: Adaptive Brightness
Click to Expand Advanced
Click Wakeup Source
Enable all sources
Click BACK once
Click Wake & sleep motions
Enable: Wake on motion
Enable: Sleep on face down
Click BACK once
Click Screensaver > When to start
Set to Never
Click BACK once
Click Lockscreen
Disable: Wake screen for notifications
Click BACK twice to return to main settings list
Navigate to Privacy
Click to Expand Advanced
Disable: Usage & Diagnostics
Click BACK twice to return to main settings list
Navigate to Security > Screen Lock
Set to None
Click BACK once to return to main settings list
Navigate to About phone
Scroll to the bottom of the list and tab Build Number repeatedly until Developer Mode is enabled.
Click BACK once to return to the main settings list.
Navigate to System > Advanced > Developer Options
Disable: Automatic system updates
Enable: USB debugging
Disable: Tethering hardware acceleration
Click Default USB configuration
Select File Transfer
Click BACK to exit all settings.
Re-launch AirWatch Launcher by pressing the HOME button. Select Launcher and set to ALWAYS launch.
Login to Admin in Launcher again. On the front of the unit, below the screen, press the OVAL button to the right of the back button. This will bring up the “Program Buttons” application.
On the Properties tab, set the HOME button to “NoAction” and press OK.
On the Properties tab, set the AppSwitch button to “NoAction” and press OK.
Click Apply to save the changes before continuing.
Click the Advanced tab and enable the “Double Click” Power Button mode.
Click Apply to save the changes.
Click the BACK button to exit the “Program Buttons” application.
Bring up the Launcher menu and click the Admin icon to exit admin mode in Launcher.
RMA Process –
When the device gets to SST, the device should be placed in a group in Airwatch that allows SST with Access using the 4556 Admin Passcode.
In the event that the passcode does not work, factory reset device and the device will auto move to the SST group in order to triage the device. Please see factory reset steps below.
Force Factory Reset on XT3:
Power down the device by removing the battery
Place battery back inside device and attach battery door
Simultaneously press and hold: Power button + Home Key + Volume Up
Once unit vibrates, release only the power button
Once the recovery menu is showing, release Home and Volume key:
Use the volume down key to highlight Wipe data/factory reset
Use the power button to select this option
On the next menu:
Use the volume down to highlight Yes – delete all user data
Use the power button to select this option
After that process is complete, on the recovery menu select Reboot Now
Once the device has been factory reset and dropped into the SST group, go through steps to triage the device to duplicate issues from RMA. If issue does not exist, close rma with status of no issue found. If Hardware issues exist, open Janam RMA to fix the device.
Asset Tag Placement
Place tag as seen to the left. Tag should be placed on the backside of the unit in the upper right-hand side with orientation as shown.
Place tag in the front of the device, to the right of the speaker. The tag should sit just to the left of the camera, so as not to block the camera’s view
