DS8178 REX Staging Process

What to Expect: 

There're two bins that support staging a DS8178 scanner. The first bin is labeled "Aaron's DS8178 Spare Pool" and the second bin is labeled "Aaron's DS8178 Cradle Spare Pool". Both will located on a rack labeled "Aaron's" in the REX storage room. 

Proceed to the "Device Check" section 

Device Check

Grab a DS8178 and a Cradle to check the following:

1. Power On and Initialization:

   1. • Turn on the scanner.

      • Observe the startup sequence: lights should indicate power-on, and the scanner may make some initialization noises.

2. Place Scanner in a Cradle: 

   1. • Carefully insert the scanner into the cradle, ensuring it sits correctly and makes proper contact with the charging pins.

      • The cradle LED should light up, indicating that the scanner is detected.

      • The LED color and behavior will vary depending on the charging status:

        1. • Flashing Amber: Charging in progress

           • Solid Green: Fully charged

           • Other colors/patterns: Grab your manager

      • Scan the QR code on the cradle while the cradle is still connected to a computer. (This will pair the scanner to the computer it is connected to)

3. Scanning a Test Document:

   1. • Grab a test document (e.g., a printed sheet with text and images) or focus your attention on the "Test Label" barcode at the bottom of this SOP.

      • While connected to a computer, initiate a scan and verify if the decoded data is accurately displayed or transmitted.

If any issues are identified while testing the scanner or the base, stop and reach out to your manager.

Staging is now complete, please go back to the Aaron's RMA Fulfillment SOP and continue the fulfillment process.
