Below is a screenshot of the welcome email that you should have as of 8/5/2021 after 7PM. This email will have a green button that you need to click to activate the account. These links expire after 7 days so please contact IT if you need a new email sent.
In this email it also lists your username. In the past, you did not need to type @sstid.atl (not a typo, this is our local domain). Once activated, you will use your windows login (what you type into the computer everyday to login) and @sstid.atl on the end along with your windows password.
-Click ‘Activate Okta Account’
The following page will open when you click ‘Activate Okta Account’. You will need to type your windows password (again, what you use to login to your PC). Below, you will select a security image. This image is just used so you can understand you are not on a faked Okta page at a later point in time. Scroll down and click the button to proceed.
You will then be presented with your options for Multi Factor authentication. These can be adjusted at a later point in time, but ‘Email Authentication’ should be the first used as it is easiest to setup and the most reliable. Click the ‘Setup’ button under Email Authentication.
The system will send a verification code to your email. Please copy and paste this code in the box below. If your email address is not correct, please let IT know so it can be updated. After pasting the code, click ‘Verify’
After completing the Email Authentication setup, it should show with a green check. You may then click ‘Finish’
A page will open like the one below, you may close this page as it is no longer needed.
The next step will be to connect to your Global Protect VPN. If previously used, you will have the globe icon in your task tray, you may click it to open the application.
Click the ‘Connect’ button in Global Protect.
This message will display for a moment before opening the Okta window. Just wait. No need to open a browser.
You will be promoted for your username and password in a separate window. Remember here that you need to have your windows username followed by @sstid.atl
Input your windows password. Clicking ‘Remember me’ will cause you get prompted for this less. Click the ‘Sign In’ button.
You will be prompted with your second factor verification. If setup using this guide, your only option will be Email Authentication. Click the ‘Send me the code’ button.
You will receive an email with a code, copy and paste this code into the ‘Verification code’ box and click ‘Verify’. Checking the ‘Do not challenge…’ box will cause you to not be prompted if you reconnect within 2 hours.
Once you see the following (you may need to click back on the Globe in your task tray to verify) then you are connected to the VPN. Congrats!
