MC9300 - REX Staging Process

Load Approved OS

As of 6/7/23 - Approved OS: 1-30-04.00-OG-U15

What to Expect

To update the device to the target OS, you can either scan the staging barcodes provided in this guide or use an SD card loaded with the necessary OS files, which are located here. The barcode staging method is recommended.

Please proceed to the section that contains the preferred method of Load OS Approved.
Load Approved OS - Barcode Method or Load Approved OS - SD Card Method

Load Approved OS - Barcode Method

1. Power on Device

2. On "Hi There" screen:

   • • Scan the first barcode from the designated profile (OS 1-30-04.00-OG-U00) below.

     • Allow the StageNow application to launch.

     • Scan all remaining profile barcodes from the designated profile (OS 1-30-04.00-OG-U00).

3. After the download completes, the device will attempt to upgrade/downgrade the device.

   • • To check the update status, pull down the notification panel from the top of the screen and you will see "Zebra System Services OS Update is working now 1%...". This can take up to 5 minutes

     • The device will display "OS Update is Completed Device will be rebooting in 15 seconds" when complete. 

4. Once the process is complete, the device will reboot.

5. After the update is completed, confirm the build number.

   • • Go to Settings > About phone > Build Number = 01-30-04.00-OG-U00

6. Launch the StageNow application

   • • Scan the first barcode from the designated profile (OS 1-30-04.00-OG-U15) below.

     • Allow the StageNow application to launch.

     • Scan all remaining profile barcodes from the designated profile (OS 1-30-04.00-OG-U15).

7. Just like step 3, the device will attempt to upgrade/downgrade the device.

   • • The device will display "OS Update is Completed Device will be rebooting in 15 seconds" when complete. 

8. After the update is completed, confirm the build number.

   • • Go to Settings > About phone > Build Number = 01-30-04.00-OG-U00

9. After confirmation, open StageNow and then scan barcodes: Bypass Barcode and then Factory Reset

   • • This will factory reset the device and bring it back to the "Hi There" screen.

Proceed to the "Staging" section

Load Approved OS - SD Card Method

Installing SD Card 

1. Power off the device.

2. Remove the battery.

3. Using a Torx T8 screwdriver with a large grip, remove the two keypad latch screws from inside the battery slot.

4. Slide the keypad latches toward the bottom of the device.

5. Turn the device over so that the keypad is visible.

6. Using a Torx T8 screwdriver, remove the two keypad assembly screws from the top of the keypad.

7. Lift the keypad from the device.

8. Slide the microSD card holder to the Open position. 

9. Lift the microSD card holder.

10. Insert the microSD card into the card holder door, ensuring that the card slides into the holding tabs on each side of the door.

11. Close the microSD card holder door and slide the door to the Lock position.

12. Align the keypad along the bottom ridge of the device, and then lay it flat.

13. At this point OS Load can begin and staging can be processed. Set aside all screws in a plastic bin.

14. Insert the battery and Follow steps below for the OS Load

15. After completion, remove the keypad.

16. Slide the card holder to the right to release and remove the microSD card

17. Replace the keypad

18. Using a Torx T8 screwdriver with a large grip and a long shaft, secure the keypad to the device using the two screws.

19. Turn the device over so that the keypad latches are visible.

20. Slide both the keypad latches toward the top of the device.

21. Using a Torx T8 screwdriver, replace the two keypad latch screws inside the battery slot

22. Press and hold both power & handle trigger key

23. Release the keys after Zebra logo appears

24. Android Recovery menu will boot up

25. Load base level OS package HE_FULL_UPDATE_01-30-04.00-OG-U00-STD.zip

• Volume key down to move highlight 

• Select with Power Key Apply downgrade from SD card > press power key

• Select TECHMERPM OS > Select HE_FULL_UPDATE_01-30-04.00-OG-U00-STD.zip  > press power key

26. After Install Complete > Select Reboot system now  > press power key

27. On Hi There > Press and hold power key select Restart

28. Press and hold Trigger

29. Release the keys after Zebra logo appears

30. Android Recovery menu will boot up

31. Load patch level OS package HE_DELTA_UPDATE_01-30-04.00-OG-U15-STD.zip

• Volume key down to move highlight 

• Select with Power Key Apply upgrade from SD card > press power key

• Select TECHMERPM OS > Select HE_DELTA_UPDATE_01-30-04.00-OG-U15-STD.zip  > press power key

32. After Install Complete > Select Reboot system now  > press power key

Proceed to the "Staging" section

Staging

All barcodes needed for this staging process is located below this section.

Phase 1: Initial Device Setup & Wi-Fi Connection

1. On the "Hi There" screen, scan the ZT Network barcode. The device will connect to SSTStaging Wi-Fi.

2. Proceed with Intune Enrollment:

   • With Camera: Tap "Hi There!" 8 times to launch the QR reader and scan the enrollment barcode.

   • Without Camera: Press Start, enter afw#setup in the Gmail field, and then scan the enrollment token barcode.

3. The Intune Deployment will begin automatically.

Phase 2: App Deployment & Manual Settings

The following apps will be deployed by Intune. Configure them as noted.

1. Dynamics 365

   • • No Configuration needed

2. Teamviewer Host

   • • No Configuration needed. Registration is done onsite for email authorization purposes

3. droidVNC-NGAdmin

   • • Register settings and permissions dashboard manually

     • Enable System Apps

       1. • Calculator

          • Drive

          • RXLogger Tools

          • StageNow

4. droidVNC-NG

   • • Manually configure settings and permissions

     • Settings:

       1. • Port: 5900

          • Password: livestrong

          • Scaling: Max

     • Permissions Dashboard:

       1. • Grant Screen capturing, Input, and File access.

          • When the "vnc-ng" permission box appears, check Don't show again and tap Start now.

5. Set the device Lock PIN to 1234 (select "no secure startup").

Phase 3: StageNow Configuration

Scan the following StageNow barcodes in order.

1. TechmerPM-Staging (Select Exit > Open Device Tracker / Power Precision and accept all permissions)

   1. • DTRKClient.apk

      • EHS_040005.apk

      • PowerPrecisionConsole.apk

      • WiFi SSID = TechmerPM

2. Dynamics Test Configuration (dynamicsCFGTest)

3. Zebra MDM Setup (A staging error is expected)

   1. • Dynamics 365 Certificate

      • Zebra DNA / Battery Management Certificate

4. EHS Settings Configuration (Admin Password = Battery1)

   1. • Complete lockdown items (Calculator, StageNow, and Warehouse Management)

5. TechmerPM_DatawedgeConfid (Ensure Profile_0 is enabled; Launcher and DWDemo are disabled)

Phase 4: Finalization

1. Restart the device manually.

2. When prompted, select EHS and tap Always.

3. Start the Warehouse Management app.

   • • Allow permissions for photos and media.

     • Tap Got It on any warning prompts.

     • Select the correct certificate when prompted (twice).

     • Confirm the Rechmer PM-TP00 connection is set up.

4. If the Notifications window appears, long-press and hide notifications for:

   • • doing work

     • ppc service

     • dtrk service

     • play protect

     • using battery

5. Power down the device

   • • If SD Card was used during the "Load Approved OS" remove the SD Card.

Staging is complete. Proceed to the RMA Fulfillment Process.
