This method is only for the AP7532s. A separate method is needed for AP6532s. This will factory reset an AP7532.
Retrieve the APs to be reset. Plug them into the POE switch in the staging lab ensuring that the lights come on (plug into GE1/poe port, not console port)
Retrieve a console cable, plugging the USB into a lab laptop and the the other end into the AP to be reset (console port)
**APs take upwards of 3-4 minutes to fully boot up
Go to Device Manager on the PC and check the 'Ports' section, noting what COMX port the console cable has taken
Open the Putty application on the PC.
Click the 'Serial' radio button
Change the 'Serial Line' to the COM port noted from device manager above
Change the 'Speed' to 115200
Click 'Open
You will prompted for a username (hit enter if nothing appears on screen)
User: reset
Password: FactoryDefault
The device will state 'Rebooting, Will come up with default configuration'
Wait 3-5 minutes
After boot completes, press enter and ensure you are prompted with a default ap name like below (ap7532-XXXXX)
Unplug the AP, reset is complete
Remove any labels on the outside of the device (unless a proper macy's asset tag is already applied)
Remove the backing plate (I use a blade screwdriver to wedge it off, it's not easy)
Apply a Macys Asset tag
Barcode scan the Serial, Mac, and asset tag into a sheet, named with date, and stored in Strategic\Technical Services\Customer Files\Macys\STAGING\APStaging
