**Process use files found on shared drive at Technical Services\Customer Files\Capstone\TC27 - Freight Runner\GIC\StageNow**
Locate the Asset Tag: Check the back of the device for an asset tag, located to the left of the serial and IMEI barcodes (see pictures below).
IMPORTANT: If an asset tag is not present, contact your manager.
Proceed to the "Device Check" section
Determine if the device is in a lockdown state.
Is the device's user interface locked down?
If YES, and you cannot access standard apps or settings, begin with Procedure 1 below.
If NO, and the device is on a standard setup screen or home screen, proceed directly to Procedure 2.
Procedure 1: Lockdown Bypass & Factory Reset
Follow these steps only if the device is in a lockdown configuration that prevents normal operation.
Log In to the MobiControl platform using the details below.

Search for the Device by Serial Number:
Click the top search bar. If it's not empty, click the X to clear it.
In the search box, type and select the Hardware Serial Number filter.
For the operator, type and select = Is.
Paste the serial number of the device and click Done.
Select the correct device from the search results.
Enter Admin Mode: a. With the device selected, click the More Options icon (three vertical dots ⋮) in the top-right corner. b. A "Device Actions" menu will appear. In its search box, type Admin. c. Select Enter Admin Mode from the list.
CRITICAL NOTE: This will unlock the device for approximately five minutes. If the timer expires, the device will re-lock. You must repeat Step 4 to unlock it again.
While the device is temporarily unlocked (in Admin Mode), immediately pick up the physical device.
Open the StageNow application.
Scan the barcode below named MX13.1-FullDeviceWipe-js. This will begin the factory reset process on the device.
Return to the MobiControl web page for the device.
Click the More Options icon (three vertical dots ⋮) again.
In the "Device Actions" search box, type Delete.
Select Delete from the list.
Click the final confirmation prompt to permanently remove the device from MobiControl.
Proceed directly to Procedure 2
Procedure 2: Device Inspection Checklist
Perform this comprehensive check to ensure the device is fully functional.
Battery and Power
Power On/Off: Confirm the device powers on and off correctly using the power button.
Charging Test: Place the device in a compatible cradle or connect a charger to verify that the charging indicator activates and the battery receives a charge.
Physical Inspection
Screen Condition: Inspect the screen for any cracks, scratches, or dead pixels. Test touch responsiveness across the entire display.
Buttons: Press each physical button (power, volume up/down, scanner triggers) to ensure they click properly and perform their function.
Ports: Visually inspect the charging port and any other connectors for debris, bent pins, or physical damage.
Device Housing: Check the casing for cracks, significant scuffs, or other signs of impact or water damage.
Connectivity & Function
Wi-Fi: Connect the device to a Wi-Fi network to confirm it can establish and maintain a stable connection.
Barcode Scanner: Launch a scanning application and test the scanner with several different barcode types (1D, 2D/QR) to ensure it reads quickly and accurately.

Proceed to the "Load Approved OS" section.

Power on Device
On "Hi There" screen:
Scan the first barcode from the designated profile (Android13_13.17.29_U04_Full_Update.pdf) below.
Allow the StageNow application to launch.
Scan all remaining profile barcodes from the designated profile (Android13_13.17.29_U04_Full_Update.pdf).
If the device fails to upgrade because the device is on a newer version > Scan the StageNow barcodes to downgrade: Android13_13.17.29_U04_Full_Downgrade.pdf
Downloading of the OS base package will begin.
After the download completes, the device will attempt to upgrade/downgrade the device.
To check the update status, pull down the notification panel from the top of the screen and you will see "Zebra System Services OS Update is working now 1%...". This can take up to 5 minutes
The device will display "OS Update is Completed Device will be rebooting in 15 seconds" when complete.
Once the process is complete, the device will reboot.
After the update is completed, confirm the build number.
Go to Settings > About phone > Build Number = 13-17-29.00-TG-U04-STD-ATH-04
After confirmation, open StageNow and the scan barcode: MX13.1-FullDeviceWipe-js.pdf
This will factory reset the device and bring it back to the "Hi There" screen.

Proceed to the "REX Asset Update" section
Open the Capstone REX environment.
Select the "Assets" option.
Use the magnifying glass on the top right hand corner to search for the asset (paste the serial number).
Select the searched asset (another UI will appear to the right side of the screen).
Edit the following fields:
Location ID = Select "SST"
Status = Change the status to “SPARE POOL”
Select the green "Save" button when complete.
Take the device and place it in a bin labeled "Capstone Spare Pool"
The Pending Staging process is complete.
