TC52 - REX Pending Staging Process

If a bypass of the "Hi There" screen or a factory reset (outside of an SD card) is needed at any point, use the barcodes at the bottom of this page.

Prep Device for OS Load

1. Install Micro SDCard

• Follow the illustration below. Office Depot requires a Micro SDCard to be inserted into the TC52.

Reset the Device

1. While holding the top button on the left side of the device (PTT Button), begin holding down the power button until you see the Zebra logo on the screen

2. Releasing the buttons, wait for the android recovery screen to appear

3. Using the volume buttons to navigate and the power button to select, choose either  “apply upgrade from SD card” or "apply downgrade from SD"

4. Next, select “TC52/”

5. Select the file "HE_FactoryReset_V3.zip"

6. Once finished, the device will say “Install from SD card complete” below. Select “Reboot System Now”

7. Allow the device to reach the "Hi There" screen.

Proceed to the "Device Check" section

Device Check

Check for both hardware and software issues before continuing. Check the following: 

Battery and Power 

• Power On/Off: Ensure the device can power on and off normally. 

• Charge Test: Put the device in a cradle to confirm it charges properly. 

Physical Inspection

• Screen Condition: Check for cracks, dead pixels, or touch responsiveness issues.

• Buttons: Ensure all buttons (power, volume, etc.) are functional.

• Ports: Inspect the charging port, headphone jack, and any other external connectors for damage.

• Device Housing: Look for any physical damage to the casing that might indicate a fall or water damage. 

Connectivity

• Wi-Fi: Test the device’s ability to connect to Wi-Fi.

• Barcode Scanning: Test the barcode scanner with various barcode types.

Once the device check is complete, be sure to get the device back to the "Hi There" screen. 

Turn off the device and Proceed to the "Load Approved OS" section

Load Approved OS

1. While holding the top button on the left side of the device (PTT Button), begin holding down the power button until you see the Zebra logo on the screen

2. Releasing the buttons, wait for the android recovery screen to appear

While on the recovery screen, pay close attention to the OS version the device is on. This can be located at the top of the screen (below the yellow text "Zebra/TC52").

3. Using the volume buttons to navigate and the power button to select, choose either “apply upgrade from SD card” or “apply downgrade from SD card” *** The OS version the device is on will determine what option to choose . Example below ***

   1. • If the device is above 01-30-04.00-OG-U31-STD, select “apply downgrade from SD card”

      • If the device is below 01-30-04.00-OG-U31-STD, select “apply upgrade from SD card” 

4. Next, select “TC52/”

   1. • If the device is above 01-30-04.00-OG-U31-STD, select “HE_FULL_UPDATE_01-30-04.00-OG-U00-STD.zip” and the device will begin downgrading its OS.

      • If the device is below 01-30-04.00-OG-U31-STD, select “HE_FULL_UPDATE_01-30-04.00-OG-U00-STD.zip” and the device will begin upgrading its OS.

5. Once finished, the device will say “Install from SD card complete” below. Select “Reboot System Now”

6. Allow the device to reach the "Hi There" screen.

7. Reboot the device back to the recovery screen.

8. Using the volume buttons to navigate and the power button to select, choose “apply upgrade from SD card”.

9. Next, select “TC52/”

10. Select HE_FULL_UPDATE_01-30-04.00-OG-U31-STD.zip and the device will begin upgrading its OS.

11. Once finished, the device will say “Install from SD card complete” below. Select “Reboot System Now”

The device should now be on the approved OS version. Proceed to the "REX Asset Update" section

REX Asset Update

1. Open Office Depot's REX environment.

2. Select the "Assets" option.

3. Use the magnifying glass on the top right hand corner to search for the asset (paste the serial number).

4. Select the searched asset (another UI will appear to the right side of the screen).

5. Edit the following fields:

   • • Location ID = Select "SST-SC" using the "v" option or type "SST-SC" in the field. 

     • Status = Change the status of the device from “Pending Staging Supply Chain” to “SPARE POOL-SUPPLY CHAIN”

6. Select the green "Save" button when complete. 

7. Take the device and place it in a bin labeled "Spare Pool Supply Chain TC52"

The Pending Staging process is complete.
